Ifo Study: Fashion retailers are as optimistic as they haven’t been in more than ten years

While the business climate has worsened for the third time in a row, clothing retailers are more optimistic than they have been for a very long time, according to the Ifo Institute.

Fashion retailers anticipate a growing interest in fashion:
The individual indicator expectation of the business situation exhibits the best value since July 2011 at minus 2 index points. Also emitting positive impulses is the inventory, which traders rate as good as before the Corona crisis.

September’s late summer days have reportedly helped fashion retailers in Germany thin their inventory. The special evaluation of the Ifo Institute’s business climate study for the clothing and footwear industry demonstrates how strong this trend is.

According to the survey, the business managers of the fashion suppliers rate their inventory at 29.4 index points – as good as it was last in November 2015.
The assessment of the inventory level is – alongside the current business and revenue situation, price expectations, orders and the business situation – one of the individual indicators for determining the business climate. They assess their own business prospects as more positive than they have been for more than ten years.  Source: ifo/Textilwirtschaft
