HACK:inn 2026: Real Challenges and Plenty of Team Spirit
Once again this year, HACK:inn drew numerous creative minds from the IT scene to the Unterreiner Academy in Buch/Julbach (Rottal-Inn) for a 24-hour event. Organized by GreG Rottal-Inn (a digital startup center), the Junior Chamber Rottal-Inn, COC AG, and Unterreiner Forstgeräte GmbH—with support from the INDIGO network—the event has long since established itself as a fixture for developers, hackers, nerds, and IT experts of all experience levels.
No competition, no jury. The focus is on exchange and innovation.
This event is not about a traditional competition. There is no jury, no judging, and no official winners. Instead, it centers on real-world challenges, collaborative problem-solving, open dialogue, and experimenting with new ideas. The relaxed, open atmosphere fosters networking and leaves room for inspiration, making it a true highlight for anyone passionate about innovation. Naturally, teams from MobiMedia participated, and we also took part as a sponsor.
From Pitches to Midnight Pizza
The program offered everything a hacker’s heart could desire. Following the bus transfer from Pfarrkirchen, the hackathon kicked off with registration and brief opening pitches from all teams, followed by an inspiring “Code Prototyping with AI” workshop and lightning talk sessions. A group dinner and the legendary “midnight pizza pitches” rounded off the first day. On Saturday, after breakfast and a workout, the teams moved on to the final pitches. Each team had three minutes to present their results before the event concluded with a wrap-up session and the return transfer.
A true highlight was the challenge set by MobiMedia: Rethinking Code Reviews
Our company, globally recognized for its web applications and digital solutions for renowned brands, presented a highly relevant task: How can the code review process be made future-proof in the age of AI-driven development?
How can the review process be optimized to keep pace with the rapid speed of AI-enabled development without compromising quality? We were looking for smart ideas, concepts, or even prototypes that maintain the classic “four-eyes principle” while supplementing it with intelligent, efficient, and targeted approaches. The challenge thus addressed a topic of growing importance for modern development teams worldwide, a subject that will continue to be a focus for us moving forward.
Innovation, Networking, and Plenty of Fun
HACK:inn 2026 once again provided the perfect stage for creative solutions, teamwork, and networking in the Rottal-Inn region. Through practical challenges—such as the one from MobiMedia—and an open, inspiring atmosphere, the hackathon demonstrates the region’s immense innovative power and proves that the future of IT is not being written solely in major metropolitan hubs.
